Brené's Favorites

Meet Me-Ma (aka Ellen and "The world's greatest grandmother). Yes, Ellen. We named our daughter after her. Me-Ma was the original product evangelist. I have wonderful memories of her coming out of the kitchen wearing a housecoat from Montgomery Ward's and square-toed cowboy boots. She'd have a cigarette in one hand and the new product-of-the-day in the other.
"Jimmy Dean has added new spices to his sausage. It's so tasty. Especially served with a Mrs. Baird's honeybun. Everyone should run down to the Piggly Wiggly and buy some before they run out."
Hip marketers didn't invent planned scarcity and product evangelism; Me-Ma did. She also loved Freddy Fender before it was cool.
As it turns out, I have the product evangelism gene. When I find something I love, I want to shout it from the rooftops. One of my favorite things is talking about my favorite things. Good service, great products, life-changing books, compelling movies - I like good stuff.
This page is dedicated to some of my favorite things. Mostly books, but some other stuff too.
Here's what you should know: (1) I don't do any advertising, product reviews, etc. I appreciate and enjoy review blogs and websites, it's just not what I do. (2) Some items link to my amazon.com store. I get an affiliate fee when you connect from my links. I use that money to buy giveaways for the blog. I pay for all of the giveaway stuff with my own money. Because it's fun.
That's all. Just a quick story about Me-Ma, my policies, and my genetic evangelism. Enjoy.
